BSF Cancellation will hit industry hard
06/07/2010
Michael Gove, the new Education Secretary, has announced that all school rebuild projects that were part of BSF will stop. This affects around 700 schools in 58 BSF projects.
44 BSF projects, comprising 700 schools that are underway, at financial close or close to financial close will continue, while all Academy projects are to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The £1m pa funding to CABE for its design review service linked to BSF has also been scrapped.
There has been no announcement regarding the Primary Schools Capital programme but we believe that it is likely to be cut in the Autumn spending statement.
The Government has launched a comprehensive review of all capital spending on education buildings from schools to sixth form colleges. Sir John Egan will be a member of the review team.
